Sonja graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She has several years of small-company experience with other Triangle-area businesses, and specializes in marketing, human resources, administration and accounting.

What’s your favorite way to pursue knowledge?
I love to read, non-fiction and fiction. I think fiction can often teach us much more about the human condition than non-fiction.
What’s one true thing about you that not many people know?
My palms sweat when I talk to people. So shake my hand before I start talking. We'll both be happier.
What’s the bravest thing you’ve ever done?
My freshman year of college, I was in Navy ROTC. The actual joining of the program was more ignorant than brave, but sticking it out for the year was definitely brave. It wasn't for me in the end, but I gave it a good try when all I really wanted to do was scream and run away.
What makes you a great team member?
I really like people, in general. Getting along is so important when you're talking about the people you spend your whole day with, and I'm happy to say I get along with the vast majority of people. Of course, the Brooks Bell crew is pretty easy to get along with anyway.
What are five things that make you happy?
A good book; a laughing baby; popcorn; puppies; "your mom" jokes.
