Each week at Brooks Bell, we have a short meeting Friday morning with the entire team. During the meeting we get updates on tests and the company, and award a “Star of the Week.”
This week, our Star is project manager, Ashley Harrington. As a project manager, she helps get our tests out on time and fully QA-ed, and was an exceptional help to the client team last week. Congratulations Ashley!
Where are you from and how did you end up in Raleigh at Brooks Bell?
I am a native Raleighite and have seen Raleigh grow exponentially over the years. I parted with Raleigh for college at UNC Chapel Hill. There I majored in biology and minored in entrepreneurship. I was presented an opportunity to intern at Brooks Bell through my minor, and enjoyed the company so much that I became a full-time employee after graduating. Three years later I’m happy to still be working in Raleigh at Brooks Bell with an awesome group of people.
Which of Brooks Bell’s core values resonates with you most and why?
I really resonate with “Empower Each Other.” Learning what other departments are doing allows me to fully understand anything I’m working on and be totally transparent with my team. This also transcends into non-work related conversations among coworkers, such as advice on the best smart phone or Internet service.
Are you reading anything interesting right now?
I’m reading Raise The Titanic by Clive Cussler, a great action adventure book full of espionage and witty banter.
What do you do outside of work? Any hobbies?
Outside of work I enjoy lots of activities; I always like to change it up every now and then. I love entertaining friends whether it’s a low-key card night or big party. I satisfy my creative side working on different pieces of art usually with oils or charcoal. I love to exercise, and run to keep high stress levels at bay.
The Brooks Bell Star of the Week is a team member who has gone above and beyond typical expectations during the week. The award is designed to empower our team and ensure everyone’s hard work is appreciated and recognized.
The winner receives a large trophy they get to keep for the entire week, fully equipped with extra Nerf darts (extra protection for those impromptu Nerf wars). They also get the honor of selecting the following week’s winner.
