Each week at Brooks Bell, we have a short meeting Friday morning with the entire team. During the meeting we get updates on tests and the company, and award a “Star of the Week.”
This week, our Star is optimization analyst, Jeremy Jordan. JJ is always working to improve our clients’ experience and keeps an eye toward the long-term by advancing extra projects. Congratulations JJ!
Where are you from, and how did you end up in Raleigh at Brooks Bell?
I’m from a small town on the outskirts of Honea Path, South Carolina called Possum Kingdom 🙂
My family moved to Wake Forest, N.C. while my father attended Southeastern Theological Seminary. After he finished school we moved around quite a bit. No matter where we moved, I never found the charm, the people, and the weather as nice as I did here in the Raleigh area. So, when I was offered a job here in Raleigh I jumped at the chance to move back. I moved back in 2006 and started working as a Support Developer. I later moved into the Analytics department and fell in love with all things data. I was introduced to Brooks Bell by a friend and found it was the perfect fit for me, so here I am.
What led you to have a passion for web development?
My dad bought a Tandy 1000 and that was it!!! Since then all things “geek” have taken center stage.
If you had the Brooks Bell team over for dinner, what would you make for all of us?
Burgers all the way! Veggie for our vegetarians. Supported by an obscene amount of tater tots.
What are you reading?
For work I’m currently reading The Exceptional Presenter: A Proven Formula to Open Up and Own the Room by Timothy J. Koegel
For fun I’m currently reading A March of Kings by Morgan Rice.
Can you provide any pointers to make Nerf guns shoot further/faster/more accurately?
Oh yes! Replace the stock spring that comes in most Neff guns with an aftermarket spring made with thicker wire. A Christmas Story Disclaimer: “You’ll shoot your eye out, kid.”
The Brooks Bell Star of the Week is a team member who has gone above and beyond typical expectations during the week. The award is designed to empower our team and ensure everyone’s hard work is appreciated and recognized.
The winner receives a large trophy they get to keep for the entire week, fully equipped with extra Nerf darts (extra protection for those impromptu Nerf wars). They also get the honor of selecting the following week’s winner.
Sound like fun? Check to see if we’re hiring.
