Each week at Brooks Bell, we have a short meeting Friday morning with the entire team. During the meeting we get updates on tests and the company, and award a “Star of the Week.”
This week, our Star is project manager, Jim Schlegelmilch. Jim is one of the awesome members of our team who keeps everyone positive. Suzi (last week’s Star) even wrote a short speech to present the award to him:
“The Star of the Week is someone who lives the core values every day, is brilliant at his job and has an awesome sense of humor. He completes his work flawlessly and is incredibly organized (even his lunch is organized). He is wicked professional at all times, yet he still makes time to interact with the team and keep us laughing. This kid is a star every week, and I am happy to present this big beautiful trophy to… you guessed it… Jim!”
What is the best part about being a Project Manager?
The best part about being a PM is the involvement with all of the different processes that go into a test, and working so closely with all of the different departments. It keeps things interesting and every day is different – which I love.
If you could take a vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’ve been fighting a wicked case of the travel/adventure bug lately, so I’d probably go for a road trip starting on the east coast and culminates in or around Big Sur in California. Our country has a little bit of everything you could ever want to see (minus centuries-old architecture), and I’ve seen very little of it. But internationally, probably Ireland.
What’s some advice you would give a new employee to be successful at Brooks Bell?
Keep learning! As a fast-moving company, we’re constantly juggling many different projects and stepping in to help each other out to meet deadlines. The more you can learn about the testing tools and how they work, the stronger our team becomes.
The Brooks Bell Star of the Week is a team member who has gone above and beyond typical expectations during the week. The award is designed to empower our team and ensure everyone’s hard work is appreciated and recognized.
The winner receives a large trophy they get to keep for the entire week, fully equipped with extra Nerf darts (extra protection for those impromptu Nerf wars). They also get the honor of selecting the following week’s winner.
Sound like fun? Check to see if we’re hiring.
