Each week at Brooks Bell, we have a short meeting Friday morning with the entire team. During the meeting we get updates on tests and the company, and award a “Star of the Week.”
This week, our Star is marketing coordinator Kelly Reiser. As a new addition to the marketing team, she works behind the scenes to increase brand awareness. You’ll see her at Click Summit and other events we attend and host throughout the year. Congratulations Kelly!
Where are you from and how did you end up in Raleigh at Brooks Bell?
I spent the later years of my childhood in Cary, NC, just outside of Raleigh, and went to NC State University. I’ve seen Raleigh evolve over the last 10 years into a thriving downtown, and love it here!
Which of Brooks Bell’s core values resonates with you most and why?
For me, Be Courageous is the most meaningful. With such a great team, it’s easy to create happiness, empower each other, be real and pursue knowledge. But I think we often challenge each other and face hard decisions, which really sets our culture apart from other companies.
What are you reading?
Lately I’ve been really into health and wellness and am reading Grain Brain: The Surprising Truth about Wheat, Carbs, and Sugar—Your Brain’s Silent Killers. It’s been a difficult read, and with every word I feel worse and worse about what I’m eating!
I recently finished an excellent book about dog psychology called Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell and Know. I highly recommend it for dog lovers; it’s eye opening!
What do you do outside of work? Any hobbies?
I just bought a house, so most of my time right now is spent decorating and trying to fill it with great pieces. I love cooking and try to make something new every Sunday. I also play lacrosse and spend a lot of time outside with my labradoodle, Willow.
The Brooks Bell Star of the Week is a team member who has gone above and beyond typical expectations during the week. The award is designed to empower our team and ensure everyone’s hard work is appreciated and recognized.
The winner receives a large trophy they get to keep for the entire week, fully equipped with extra Nerf darts (extra protection for those impromptu Nerf wars). They also get the honor of selecting the following week’s winner.
