Each week at Brooks Bell, we have a short meeting Friday morning with the entire team. During the meeting we get updates on tests and the company, and award a “Star of the Week.” This week, our Star is executive assistant Carissa Nickel!
With Click Summit last week, the marketing team needed some man power, and Carissa was there for us! Her never ending willingness to help and kind words and smile made the event so much fun! We couldn’t have pulled it off without her help; congratulations Carissa!
Are you reading anything interesting right now?
I’m reading a book called Thinking Fast and Slow. It talks about the difference in types of thought our brains have, the first being fast, emotional and instinctive, and the second type is slower and more deliberate. The author, Daniel Kahneman, dubs them “System 1” and “System 2” for ease of understanding then goes on to explain how and why sometimes given the same data each “system” comes up with a different outcome or conclusion. So far it is very informative and really makes me think.
Favorite work/life slogan or quote?
“Follow your bliss and make sure you live your life for you. Never be afraid to take chances, try new things, and be adventurous so you never end up saying ‘I wish I had done that.'” – My cousin told me this once and it has stuck with me.
If you could take a vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?
This is such a tough question because there are so many places I want to travel to. Right now though, I would pick Bali to experience the culture and the beauty of the island.
The Brooks Bell Star of the Week is a team member who has gone above and beyond typical expectations during the week. The award is designed to empower our team and ensure everyone’s hard work is appreciated and recognized.
The winner receives a large trophy they get to keep for the entire week, fully equipped with extra Nerf darts (extra protection for those impromptu Nerf wars). They also get the honor of selecting the following week’s winner.
